In 1950 the New Iberia Cardinals of the Evangeline League were renamed the New Iberia Rebels. The club was based in New Iberia, LA and managed by Sid Gautreaux. They finished in sixth place, at 66-73, in the 8-team league. They were second in runs (885) and 4th in pitching/defense (821 runs allowed), which makes it hard to explain their poor overall record. 1B Earl Bossenberry hit .331/~.430/.486, tied for hte league lead in triples (16), was one behind the walk leader with 112 and scored 139 times, the most in the league.
