1955 Rule V Draft
The major league 1955 Rule V Draft was held November 28 in Columbus, OH, while the minor league phase was held November 29-30 in the same city (Open, AAA, AA, and A on the 29th, B and C on the 30th). Only 68 players total were drafted by the major and minor league clubs. 10 players were drafted by major league teams at a cost of $115,000, while minor league teams selected 58 players at a cost of $186,450. Open classification teams drafted 6 players, AAA teams drafted 9 players, AA teams drafted 12 players, A teams drafted 12 players, B teams drafted 16 players, and C teams drafted 3 players. Included in the 68 drafts were 3 "delayed" picks, 1 by the AAA Charleston Senators and 2 by the B Hagerstown Packets. Additionally 1 umpire was selected by the minor league Provincial League.
Connie Grob was the first pick in the major league portion of the draft.
