1957 Rule V Draft
The major league 1957 Rule V Draft was held December 2, while the minor league phase was held December 3-4 in Colorado Springs, CO. 56 players total were drafted by the major and minor league clubs. 11 players were drafted by major league teams at a cost of $135,000, while minor league teams selected 45 players at a cost of $190,500.
The 1957 draft was the last to be held before the majors and minors both adopted a new selection rule allowing for the unrestricted draft of all players with four years of O.B. service.
Bobby Malkmus was the first pick of the major league portion of the draft.
