The Austin Senators were a charter member of the Texas League in 1887. They were frequently members of the TL from that point through 1914. Additionally, they played in the Texas-Southern League in 1896 and the South Texas League in 1906. The name was next used in the Texas Association in '25 and '26 by the former Austin Rangers. After that it was used by the Milwaukee Braves' AA farm club in the Texas League from 1956 to 1964. The team became the Austin Braves in '65 - they left Austin after '67 and professional baseball would not return there till 2000 with the Round Rock Express.
There also was a generally minor Negro League team known as the Austin Black Senators, but sometimes shortened to Austin Senators.
