1921 Rule V Draft
The major league 1921 Rule V Draft was held October 15 in New York, NY, although teams had until October 20 to submit names. 1921 was the first major league Rule V Draft since 1918, due to the minor leagues abrogating the National Agreement in 1919. 9 players were initially drafted by major league teams.
Five of the minor leagues - American Association, International League, Pacific Coast League, Western League, and Three-I League took advantage of a clause in the Major/Minor agreement and claimed exemption from the draft as long as they also did not draft any players.
