1939 Rule V Draft

The major league 1939 Rule V Draft was held October 3. 13 players were drafted by major league teams. the Cleveland Indians attempted to draft Russell Bevel from the New Orleans Pelicans, but Judge Landis voided the pick because the Indians had a working agreement with New Orleans. The Cincinnati Reds eventually selected Bevel.

The AA draft was held October 9, the A1 draft was held October 14-16, the A draft was held October 19-21 and the B draft was held October 24-25.
