Biographical Information

Texas native Bob Prichard spent nine active seasons in professional baseball from 1937 to 1949.

He was with the major league Washington Senators from June 14, 1939 until August 24, 1939. The first-baseman appeared in 26 games and hit .235 with eight RBI.

The left-hander had five seasons in which he hit .300 or better during his minor league run. His best numbers (without adjusting for league) came in 1946 with the Paris Red Peppers of the class C East Texas League when he hit .332 and 23 home runs in 128 games. He also hit .338 for the same team in 1949, his final year in pro baseball.

His final minor league stats show that he appeared in 856 games and hit 71 home runs along with a .295 batting average. Pritchard was out of pro baseball from 1942 through 1945.

After baseball, Bob was in the broadcasting busines. He owned an operated a radio station in Stamford, TX from 1958 until his death on September 25, 1991 in Abilene, TX. Prichard was also mayor of Stamford from 1983 to 1989.
