Biographical Information[edit]

One website gives Vito Valentinetti the award for having the most Italian name in baseball history. Vito spent his major league career with teams that were at or under .500, except for his debut with the Chicago White Sox where he pitched in one game in 1954.

He was the first of three major leaguers to come from Iona College (as of 2006). All of the three were pitchers.

Valentinetti missed all of the 1952 season and most of the 1951 and 1953 seasons due to military service.
