Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Bill Ecklund began his pro career in 1948. While playing for the Centralia Sterlings in 1950, he went 16-7 and led the Mississippi-Ohio Valley League with 174 strikeouts. He joined the St. Louis Browns organization the next summer but then missed the following two seasons while serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He returned to baseball in 1954 and played his final pro campaign that year in the Baltimore Orioles chain.
After baseball, Ecklund was an electrician and coached American Legion ball in Lowell, Massachusetts.
