Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Gene Stewart played in the minor leagues from 1950 to 1954. He hit .356 with 28 doubles in 88 games for the Sanford Spinners in his first campaign, and followed that with a .316 mark and 12 home runs in 98 games for the New Bern Bears in 1951. The Lakeland Pilots selected him in the 1951 Rule V Draft and he spent a year with them. After two more seasons of middling success, Stewart's career was over.

In total, he hit .296 with 610 hits in 577 games over 5 seasons. He later worked in banking for over 30 years.
