Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Kenneth Jones spent 10 seasons playing in the high-offense Longhorn League, Big State League and Southwestern League, playing for the Midland Indians (1948-1951), Oklahoma City Indians (Texas League, 1951), Temple Eagles (1952-1954), Tyler Tigers (1955), Austin Pioneers (1955) and Ballinger Bearcats (1956-1957).

Available records show he hit as high as .343 in a season (1949) and finished his career with marks of .338 and .316, respectively, over his final two campaigns. In 1956, his second-to-last campaign, he hit .338/.377/.531 with 17 home runs, 119 RBI, 44 doubles and 98 runs scored in 140 games.

He was selected in two Rule V Drafts. In 1949, he was taken by the Borger Gassers from Midland; he never played for Borger and returned to Midland. In 1951, he was taken by Temple from Midland.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
