Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Jack Parks began his pro career in 1944 as a youth of 16. He continued playing through 1961, a span of 18 seasons. Parks played at the Triple-A level in 10 of those years, and he got at least one brief sniff of the majors in 1955. He made the Opening Day roster of the Milwaukee Braves as the third-string receiver behind Del Crandall and Charlie White. He had a baseball card in the Topps set that year. After just three games, though, Parks was sent down. Manager Charlie Grimm was highly impressed [1] but thought that daily work in the minors would do Parks more good than riding the Braves' bench.
Parks got married at home plate [2] while playing at Spokane in the summer of 1949. After leaving baseball, he settled in Spokane and went into the insurance business.
