1953 National Baseball Congress World Series
The 1953 National Baseball Congress World Series was won by the Fort Leonard Wood Hilltoppers. They beat the Boeing Bombers 7-1 in the title game to win the NBC championship for the first (and only) time. The Hilltoppers, who lost last years' final, went unbeaten at the Wichita, KS tournament. They were the first team from Missouri to win the championship.
Ft. Leonard Wood second baseman Bob McKee, a Chicago Cubs minor leaguer, was named MVP. He was doing his military service at the Missouri base.
