1935 National Baseball Congress World Series
The 1935 National Baseball Congress World Series was the inaugural tournament. Played at Lawrence Stadium in Wichita, KS it was founded by Hap Dumont as a championship for semipro teams.
The Bismarck Churchills of North Dakota were the very first champions as they beat the Halliburton Cementers of Oklahoma in the title game 5-2. The Churchills were a mix of white minor leaguers and negro leaguers.
Negro League pitcher Satchel Paige was named MVP of the first NBC tournament.
