2020 National Baseball Congress World Series
The 2020 National Baseball Congress World Series was the 86th edition of this event. The Santa Barbara Foresters won their eighth championship, beating the Cheney Diamond Dawgs of the Sunflower Collegiate League, 12-3, in the final. Cheney finished as runners-up for the second consecutive year.
Thirteen teams from five different states took part in the tournament, the fewest ever, although this was obviously due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The NBC returned to its traditional double-elimination format after going with pool-play since 2016. The world series was played at Eck Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University and for the first time in Hutchinson, KS at Hobart-Detter Field.
On August 6th, three Santa Barbara Foresters pitchers combined to no-hit the Liberal BeeJays en route to an 8-0 win. It was the first no-hitter at the NBC World Series since 2001.
Santa Barbara pitcher Sean Johnson of the University of Mississippi was named tournament MVP.
