Halliburton Cementers
The Halliburton Cementers (1927-1941) were a semipro baseball team from Duncan, OK. They were founded in 1927 and owned by the Halliburton Oil Well Cementing Company.
The Cementers played in the very first National Semipro Championship in 1935 although they lost the final to Bismarck and their star pitcher Satchel Paige. The following year they went one better and won the championship beating Buford Bona Allen. Pitcher Harry White was named tournament MVP. Three years later they won the championship again as they beat Mount Pleasant (TX) in the final. The 1939 champions were unusual because they never had a single player make the all-tournament team.
NBC Finals Appearances[edit]
- 1935, lost to the Bismarck Churchills 5-2
- 1936, beat the Bona Allen Shoemakers 4-1
- 1939, beat the Mount Pleasant Cubs (TX) 5-2
