1962 Rule V Draft

The major league 1962 Rule V Draft was held November 26, while the minor league phase was held later that day in Rochester, NY. 116 players total were drafted by the major and minor league clubs. 56 players were drafted by major league teams at a cost of $695,000, while minor league teams selected 60 players at a cost of $483,000. AAA teams drafted 34 players, AA teams drafted 3, A teams drafted 14, B teams drafted 9, and C teams drafted none.
The major league teams conducted three drafts. The first draft was the standard Rule V draft with a price tag of $25,000, followed by two first-year rule drafts, one for first year players signed before December 3, 1961 (with a $12,000 price) and another for players signed on or after that date (for a price of $8,000).
