Biographical Information[edit]
Bob "Bo" Sadowski played four seasons in the major leagues, appearing for four different teams. This is Bob Sadowski the infielder-outfielder, as distinguished from Bob Sadowski the pitcher, who was also in the majors in 1963.
Bo was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1955 and played in their organization through part of 1960. He hit .302 with 15 home runs and 13 triples for the Billings Mustangs in 1957.
He split 1960 between a team in the Chicago White Sox organization - the San Diego Padres, for whom he hit .340 - and the Rochester Red Wings in the Cardinals organization. Bo made his major league debut on September 16th of that year and was traded three days later to the Philadelphia Phillies organization. He spent 1961 mostly in the minors with the Buffalo Bisons but came up for 16 games with the Phillies.
Traded to the Chicago White Sox after the 1961 season, he appeared in 79 games for the Sox in 1962. He backed up Nellie Fox at second base and Al Smith at third base and did some pinch-hitting.
After the 1962 season he was drafted away by the Los Angeles Angels and appeared in 88 games with them in 1963. He then played for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the International League from 1964 to 1966.
He finished his minor league career playing for a variety of teams from 1967 to 1969.
