Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Conrad Cardinal played four years in the minors as well as part of one in the majors with the Houston Colt .45s.

Originally signed by the Detroit Tigers, Cardinal made his pro debut in 1962 with the Jamestown Tigers, going 14-7 with a 3.74 ERA in 31 games. Following the season, he was taken by Houston in the 1962 Rule V Draft. The 21-year-old made the Opening Day roster in 1963 and made his big league debut on April 11th, giving up an earned run in 3 innings of relief against the San Francisco Giants. Overall, he appeared in 6 games, going 0-1 with a 6.08 ERA. He spent most of the season with the San Antonio Bullets, for whom he went 9-9. He finished his career with two seasons with the Durham Bulls.

Conrad is the only player through 2019 with the last name Cardinal, although José Cardenal has a similar last name. The Big Book of Jewish Baseball said he lived in Las Vegas as of 2001.
