Eddie Grant, usually remembered as "Harvard Eddie Grant", was a Harvard graduate who played in the major leagues and gained additional fame for giving up his life in the Argonne Forest during battle in World War I.
Harvard's first baseball team was formed in 1862 by freshmen George A. Flagg and Frank Wright. Ambassador Joe Kennedy (father of John F. Kennedy) played baseball at Harvard.
