Biographical Information[edit]

Sean Poppen made his major league debut in 2019, pitching in four games (nine innings) for the Minnesota Twins.

Sean was born in Chesapeake, VA, the birthplace also of Eddie Butler and Zeke Spruill. He attended Harvard University, pitching there for four years before being drafted in the 19th round in the 2016 Amateur Draft by the Twins.

In the minors during 2016-2019, he posted an overall ERA of 3.38 and a WHIP of 1.247. Roughly 90% of his appearances were starts. In August of 2019, he had an elbow injury and ended up on the 60-day injured list (placed there in September).

While with the Twins in 2019, his fastball got up to 97 mph. He also often throws a slider, and less often, a change-up.
