Biographical Information[edit]

Dan Kantrovitz has been a scout.

Kantrovitz was a star shortstop at Brown University. He hit .303 in 1998, .427 in 1999, .247 in 2000 and .426 in 2001. He was All-Ivy League at shortstop in 1999 and 2001. He set Brown hit records for both a single season (68 in 2001) and career (208). He also was among the all-time top 10 in the Ivy League for both hits and doubles (47) in a career. He also played for the 2000 Hyannis Mets in the Cape Cod League. The St. Louis Cardinals took him in the 25th round of the 2001 amateur draft, one pick after Charlie Haeger. He went 1 for 3 for the Johnson City Cardinals before a shoulder injury ended his career.

From 2004-2008, he worked as Assistant Scouting Director, Director of College Scouting and other roles in the St. Louis Cardinals scouting department. Kantrovitz was hired by the Oakland Athletics as Director of International Scouting from 2009-2011. Then he returned to his hometown Cardinals as Scouting Director for 2012, succeeding Jeff Luhnow, who had become a GM.
