Biographical Information[edit]
Tom Stankard played two games for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1904. He played one of them at shortstop, where the team's regular was the 30-year-old Honus Wagner. Tom also played in the minors during 1904-1914, with parts of five seasons spent with the Springfield Ponies.
Stankard was at Boston College in 1901 [1] and then went to Holy Cross in 1901-1904. He was a big star in both baseball and football and by 1903 the Pirates wanted to sign him, but would not do so because Stankard was going to play one more season on the Holy Cross varsity team. Source: Pittsburgh Press, December 11, 1903.
Harvard University also claims him as someone who went there [2].
After baseball he worked for the Waltham, MA Post Office [3].
