1958 NPB All-Star Game

There were two 1958 NPB All-Star Games and they were split between the Pacific League and Central League for the fourth year in a row.

Game 1[edit]

Game 1 was held on July 27 at Heiwadai Stadium in front of 32,606 fans. Andy Miyamoto drove in the game-winning run with a double in the first inning, and he won the MVP. He was the only player to hit a extra-base hit for the CL, and their only player who had multiple hits. The PL's Katsuya Nomura hit two doubles, and Kihachi Enomoto recorded a solo shot in the 4th inning. However, their teammates only combined to an infield single. Noboru Akiyama and Masaichi Kaneda combined shut out the PL for 6 innings while fanning 9, and Kazuhisa Inao also struck out 4 in his 2 shutout innings.

Game 2[edit]

Game 2 took place two days later at Hiroshima Municipal Baseball Stadium, with an attendance of 29,580. Futoshi Nakanishi won the MVP with his game-winning, 3-run homer off Hiromi Oyane in the 4th inning. Takao Katsuragi was 3-for-5 with a RBI, and Yasumitsu Toyoda also collected 2 hits. Inao struck out 6 in 3 innings, and Tetsuya Yoneda got the win while collecting 4 strikeouts in 3 shutout innings.
