Biographical Information[edit]

Saburo Yokozawa was a player, manager and umpire in Nippon Pro Baseball. He is the brother of Shichiro Yokozawa.

Yokozawa went 0 for 1 for the Tokyo Senators in the fall of 1937, his only appearance as a player in the professional ranks. He was also Tokyo's manager, guiding them to a 26-20 record in 1936, with the best record in the spring. His club was 50-53-1 in 1937. In 1946, he piloted the Senators to a 47-58 record.

Yokozawa then became an umpire (he had been a college umpire in the days before pro ball began in Japan), eventually becoming chief of umpires in NPB. In 1988, he was inducted into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame.
