1986 NPB All-Star Game

There were three 1986 NPB All-Star Games, and the Pacific League won twice while the Central League won another.

Game 1[edit]

Game 1 took place at Korakuen Stadium, with an attendance of 39,868. Kazunori Yamamoto attended the All-Star for the first time in his 11th season, and he was 2-for-4 with a clutch go-ahead RBI double in the 5th inning to win the MVP. Hiromi Matsunaga also collected 2 RBI with a single in the 4th inning, and Daijiro Oishi blasted the first homer for the PL in the 7th inning. Kimiyasu Kudo struck out 6 in his 3 shutout innings, and Yoshiaki Ishimoto also pitched 3 innings with 4 Ks to get the win. The CL's Yutaka Takagi was 2-for-3 and drove in half of their 4 runs with a 2-run shot in the 4th inning.

Game 2[edit]

Game 2 was held July 20 in front of 28,188 fans at Osaka Stadium. Rookie Kazuhiro Kiyohara blasted a game-tying solo shot off Kazuhiko Endo to win MVP, and Kazunori Yamamoto also had another solo shot in the 3rd inning. The CL's Yoshihiko Takahashi was 2-for-3 with a triple to get two RBI, and Ken Hirano collected 3 hits. In the bottom of 11th inning, Tatsunori Hara made a fatal error while catching Koji Akiyama's grounder, and the PL took the win.

Game 3[edit]

Game 3 was held July 22 in front of 26,384 fans at Hiroshima Municipal Baseball Stadium. The CL's Sadaaki Yoshimura blasted a sayonara, 2-run homer in the 10th inning to win the MVP, and he also hit another homer in the 2nd inning. The PL's highlight was Ishige who collected 4 hits, and Ochiai also blasted a homer.
