Game 1[edit]

Game 1 was held on July 25 at Yokohama Stadium in front of 27,340 fans. Defying predictions, Kazuhiro Sasaki was the starter for CL, and he struck out four in two innings. The CL's Glenn Braggs was 3-for-4 with two RBI doubles and gave his team a 2-run lead. However, Keiichi Yabu allowed 3 runs in the 8th inning due to Kazuhiro Kiyohara's triple. Shigetoshi Hasegawa couldn't hold the PL's one-run lead as Hiromitsu Ochiai blasted a game-tying solo shot in the bottom of the inning, and he won the MVP.
