Biographical Information[edit]
Masaharu Kasahara has been a Central League umpire since 1988, reaching 2,500 career games in 2019. He worked the 1995 NPB All-Star Games, 1999 NPB All-Star Games, 2002 Japan Series, 2003 Japan Series, 2004 NPB All-Star Games, 2006 Japan Series, 2008 Japan Series, 2010 Japan Series and 2011 Japan Series. He was the home plate umpire when Wladimir Balentien broke the Nippon Pro Baseball home run record. He worked the 2013 Asia Series, 2014 NPB All-Star Games, 2015 Japan Series, 2018 Japan Series, 2019 Japan Series, 2020 Japan Series and 2020 Olympics. He was named Japan's Umpire of the Year in 2017 and 2019.
