1982 NPB All-Star Game

There were three 1982 NPB All-Star Games. Both leagues won once while another game was tied.

Game 1[edit]

Game 1 took place July 24 at Korakuen Stadium, with an attendance of 35,389. The PL's leadoff hitter Yutaka Fukumoto was 4-for-4 with 3 runs scored and won MVP, and Junichi Kashiwabara blasted a solo shot off Suguru Egawa in the first inning. Tatsumi Murata completed 3 shutout innings, and Isamu Kida got the win although he allowed 2 runs in 2 2/3 innings.

Game 2[edit]

Game 2 was held July 24 and was held in front of 33,059 fans at Seibu Dome for a 11-inning game. The PL's Junichi Kashiwabara was 4-for-5 with a game-tying homer in the 5th inning to win MVP, and Fukumoto also had a 2-run shot. The CL's Koji Yamamoto was their best hitter as he was 2-for-2 with a homer and 3 walks. Reliever Akio Saito became the only player ever to pitch 5 innings in a single All-Star Game, and he also collected 5 strikeouts.

Game 3[edit]

Game 3 was held July 27 in Osaka Stadium; the attendance was 23,450. The CL made the first triple play in All-Star history in 7th inning on Tatsuo Omiya's grounder. Masayuki Kakefu won the MVP with his clutch 2-run shot in the 3rd inning, and Genji Kaku got the win as he pitched 2 shutout innings with 2 strikeouts. Ochiai and Fukumoto were the only two players that had more than a hit for the PL.
