1985 NPB All-Star Game

There were three 1985 NPB All-Star Games, and the Central League won twice while the Pacific League won another.

Game 1[edit]

Game 1 took place on July 20 at Meiji-Jingu Stadium, with an attendance of 28,499. Yutaka Takagi drove in the only runs of this game with a single in the 5th inning and won the MVP. The CL's starter Suguru Egawa struck out 5 in 3 innings, and he shut out the PL alongside Takao Obana, Nobuhiro Takagi, Akio Saito and Kazuyuki Yamamoto.

Game 2[edit]

Game 2 was held July 21 in front of 28,188 fans at Kawasaki Stadium. Warren Cromartie was 2-for-3 with a game-winning 2-run shot off Hirohisa Matsunuma and won the MVP. The PL's Hiromitsu Ochiai blasted 2 homers and Tsutomu Itoh also had one, but they still lost the one-run game.

Game 3[edit]

Game 3 was held July 23 in front of 23,515 fans at Fujiidera Stadium. All-Star home run record holder Koji Yamamoto blasted his 14th homer in the 5th inning and drove in 2 runs. However, those were the only runs of the CL in this game, and the PL collected 17 hits and scored double-digit runs. Hiromi Matsunaga won MVP as his RBI single brought the game-winning run for the PL, and Koji Minoda added 3 insurance runs with a homer off Akio Saito in the 8th inning.
