1964 NPB All-Star Game

There were three 1964 NPB All-Star Games and the Central League won twice while the Pacific League won the other contest.

Game 1[edit]

Game 1 was played at Kawasaki Stadium on July 20; attendance was 25,451. Masaichi Kaneda had one of the most incredible performances in All-Star history. He broke the All-Star record with 7 strikeouts in 3 shutout innings to get the win, and scored the only run of the day to win MVP. Kazuhiko Kondo was 3-for-3 with a walk and the game-winning RBI single, and Takeshi Kuwata also collected two hits. The PL's Teruyuki Takakura was their only offensive highlight as he had four of their five hits.

Game 2[edit]

Game 2 was held on July 21 at Chunichi Stadium, with 24,977 in attendance. The CL's Jim Marshall hit a clutch tw-run double against Masaaki Koyama to win the MVP, and Shozo Shigematsu added an insurance run with a solo shot in the 9th inning. Yoshiaki Ito got the win with a shutout inning, and Noboru Akiyama struck out 3 in 3 innings. Isao Harimoto drove in the only run for the PL in the 3rd inning with a RBI single.

Game 3[edit]

Game 3 was held on July 22 at Osaka Stadium, with 29,877 in attendance. The PL finally got their first win thanks to Joe Stanka's performance. He recorded a team-leading 2 RBI with a clutch single in the 2nd inning, and also pitched 3 innings with only one run allowed to get the win. Akira Ishii and Daryl Spencer both blasted a solo shot, and Masahiro Doi was 3-for-3 with a walk and 2 runs scored. The CL only scored on Kazuhiro Yamauchi's solo homer and Sadaharu Oh's RBI double while Oh also drew 2 walks.
