Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher-first baseman Toshiharu Inokawa began his professional baseball career with the 1940 Hankyu club. He hit .215/.333/.262 and managed the team to a 20-12 record after taking the helm on September 15. He guided the team to second place in 1941 (53-31-1) before they fell to fourth (49-50-6) a year later; he saw limited time off the bench as a player. Inokawa then served time in the Japanese army and saw combat duty.

He returned to Hankyu as a player after the war, but only went 0 for 4 over the course of two seasons. In 1949 Inokawa was hired as the manager of the Tokyu Flyers. Tokyu went 64-73-1 and finished in seventh place. He wrapped up his playing career, going 0 for 1, to finish at .197/.324/.252. Inokawa was later hired by Tokyu to manage the team from 1952 through 1954, a span during which they never finished higher than sixth. His managerial record overall was 337-378-13.

After retiring as a manager, he became an umpire in the Pacific League.
