1959 NPB All-Star Game
There were two 1959 NPB All-Star Games and they were split between the Pacific League and Central League for the fifth year in a row.
Game 1[edit]
Game 1 was held on July 28 at Nishinomiya Baseball Stadium in front of 20,768 fans. The PL outhit the CL, 15-5, and outscored them, 9-0. Tetsuya Yoneda, Tadashi Sugiura (who got the win), Kazuhisa Inao and Yukio Shimabara teamed on the shutout, fanning 15, while Yoshio Yoshida was the only CL player with multiple hits. Minoru Murayama pitched two shutout innings to match Yoneda but the CL relievers got hammered. The PL offensive included 3 RBI from RF/LF Kazuhiro Yamauchi and 3 hits from CF Teruyuki Takakura. Yamauchi hit the game's lone homer as well and was named MVP.
