Biographical Information[edit]

Yoshitaka Kosaka played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Kosaka was signed by the Hiroshima Toyo Carp in 1956, and he soon became the starting second baseman for the Carp. [1] He hit .235/.293/.319 with 4 homers in his rookie year. Kosaka was selected into the 1959 NPB All-Star Game, but went 0-for-4 in that game.[2] Kosaka ended up hitting .278/.340/.375 with 6 homers in this year. He retained his reliable performance in the next two years, as he hit .237/.285/.329 and .256/.290/.327 respectively in 1960 and 1961. The Yokohama native attended the All-Star Game again in 1962, and collected a single off Yukihiro Kubo in Game 2.[3] He ended up hitting .251/.296/.321, and won his first Best Nine award, due largely to his outstanding defense. However, Kosaka suffered a severe injury in 1964, and Junro Anan replaced him. Kosaka failed to come back and announced his retirement after the 1965 season.[4]

Overall, Kosaka had hit .239/.288/.317 in 8 seasons in NPB.
