Biographical Information[edit]

Yosuke Terada played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.

Terada was signed by the Nankai Hawks in 1956, and he was named their starting first baseman as a rookie. He hit .247/.328/.360 in his rookie year, then he had a .234/.287/.382 batting line in 1957. Terada slumped to .224/.291/.339 in 1958, then he crushed a career-high 13 homers with a .261/.306/.393 batting line in 1959. He was also selected into the 1959 NPB All-Star Games, and he was 1-for-4, with a double against Motoshi Fujita in Game 1. In the 1959 Nippon Series, Terada was 7-for-15 with 4 RBI and helped the Hawks sweep the Yomiuri Giants.

The Fukuoka native hit .249/.301/.372 with 10 homers in 1960, and his batting line was .256/.291/.361 in 1961. Terada crushed a solo home run against Sho Horiuchi in 1961 Nippon Series Game 1, and he was 2-for-11 in the first four games. He was unable to catch Shigeru Fujio's fly ball in the 9th inning of Game 4, then Andy Miyamoto hit a walk-off single to steal the win from the Hawks. Terada crushed a homer against Yoshiaki Ito in Game 5, and he blasted another solo shot, off Ritsuo Horimoto in Game 6. However, he still couldn't stop the Giants from beating the Hawks in 6 games.

Terada was then traded with Haruo Handa and Shigeo Hasegawa to the Chunichi Dragons for Noboru Inoue. He slumped to .205/.239/.284 in 1962, then he only played 61 games with a .179/.193/.286 batting line in 1963. The Dragons then traded him to the Toei Flyers for Hisao Yamamoto, and he hit .205/.258/.337 in 77 games in 1964. Terada announced his retirement after the 1964 season.

Overall, Terada hit .239/.290/.358 with 640 hits and 68 homers in 9 seasons in the NPB.
