In 1969 the Tokyo Orions were sold to Lotte, a Korean company (which would latter become owners of the Lotte Giants of the Korea Baseball Organization) and renamed the Lotte Orions. They maintained the name until 1991 when they became the Chiba Lotte Marines. The team won the Japan Series just once - in 1974, when they became the first team other than the Yomiuri Giants to win one since 1964.
