The Bahamas is an country in the West Indies consisting of an archipelago of 700 islands located in the Atlantic Ocean, east of Florida in the United States and north of Cuba and the Caribbean Sea. U.S. Navy sailors brought baseball to what was then a British colony in the early 1950s or so. The game took off in popularity after Andre Rodgers made it to the majors, and quite a few young Bahamians played pro ball in the 1960s and '70s, although the output tapered off after that.

While baseball remains a niche sport in the Bahamas, a new crop of successful baseball players in the 2020s has been working to increase its profile. For example, Lucius Fox and Todd Isaacs have organized an annual home run derby that has attracted attention due to its spectacular setting: a white sand beach on Montagu Bay, with the dingers landing in the ocean, where players on jet skis equipped with gloves and fishing nets go to retrieve the baseballs. A number of professional players, some from the Bahamas and others not, have taken part in the event. In 2022, the country also hosted the 2022 Caribbean Baseball Cup at a brand new baseball stadium named for Rodgers.
