Biographical Information[edit]

Ken Adderley was the starting center fielder for the first junior national team fielded by the Bahamas Baseball Association. He started playing collegiate ball at Miami-Dade Community College but transferred to Florida International University. There he attracted scouts' attention with a fine 1986 season, when he set a school record with 98 hits, hitting .375 and stealing 30 bases.

The Baltimore Orioles drafted the outfielder in the 10th round in the 1986 amateur draft, one selection after Mike Blowers. He showed some promise in rookie ball with Bluefield of the Appalachian League, hitting .282/.343/.382 with 5 homers and 32 RBIs in 60 games. He also displayed his speed, stealing 18 bases in 25 tries. However, he hit just .222/.266/.253 with one homer and 21 RBI in 96 games (stealing 13 bases but being caught 9 times). after moving up to Class A Miami in 1987, and his pro career then ended.

Adderley continued to enjoy baseball at home, helping to lead Buttons Formal Wear to four Commonwealth Championships in the Nassau Baseball League. He is now a pastor, having founded Kenneth Adderley Ministries, and a youth baseball coach in Nassau.
