Biographical Information

Third baseman Mike Blowers was signed as a 10th round pick in the 1986 amateur draft by the Montreal Expos and scout Whitey DeHart. A member of the 1995 Seattle Mariners, the cry of "Blower Power" echoed throughout the Kingdome whenever Mike came up to bat. He drove in 33 runs that August, which remains a team record for a single month (shared with Hall of Famer Edgar Martinez). Two years prior, he became the thirteenth major leaguer to hit grand slams in back to back games, taking Bobby Witt and Craig Lefferts deep on May 16 and May 17, 1993. On May 18... albeit five years later... Mike was king for a day by hitting for the cycle as part of an Oakland A's 14-0 massacre of the Chicago White Sox.

After retiring, he was a baseball analyst on Seattle sports radio station 950 KJR AM and later did postgame analysis on KOMO 1000 News when they broadcast M's games. In 2007, he became the color analyst on television games, partnering with Dave Sims. That season, he accidentally started the custom (for lack of a better word) of giving away Rally Fries at M's games. On September 27, 2009, he miraculously predicted that Matt Tuiasosopo would slug his first big league homer that day on a 3-1 fastball in his second bat during the Mariners pre-game show. Facing Brian Tallet of the Toronto Blue Jays, Matt made Mike's prediction real, though the M's fell, 5-4.
