Biographical Information[edit]

Todd Isaacs has played in the minors.

Isaacs began high school in the Bahamas and came to the US to finish high school to further his baseball career. The Toronto Blue Jays took him in the 22nd round of the 2014 amateur draft but he went on to college. He was timed at 6.1 seconds in the 60-yard dash, one of the fastest players in college baseball. He was taken by the Cleveland Indians in the 19th round of the 2015 amateur draft and signed; the scout was Juan Alvarez.

He began his pro career with the AZL Indians, hitting .214/.225/.282 with one walk in 123 plate appearances. He stole five bases in six tries. With the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in 2016, he was much better, producing at a .333/.384/.514 clip with 6 homers and 14 steals (in 16 tries) in 44 games. He made no errors in the outfield while registering 7 assists. Walks remained somewhat rare, with 8 in 165 PA. Had he qualified, he would have edged Tyler Hill by .001 for the New York-Penn League average lead and he would have been second in slugging (.004 behind Darick Hall). He tied for 9th in the league in home runs and he missed the top 10 in steals by one.

Isaacs then joined the Great Britain national team for the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, forming an all-Bahamian outfield of speedsters with CF Champ Stuart and LF Antoan Richardson (backed up by fellow Bahamian Reshard Munroe). He went 3 for 14 with a double and one steal in two tries but his 3 RBI tied Stuart and Chavez Young for the team lead. He drove in their first run of the tourney, in the opener against Israel. He singled off Jason Marquis to score Stuart. Later in the game, he hit a sacrifice fly off Josh Zeid to again score Stuart. He doubled in the 9th off closer Brad Goldberg but was stranded in a 5-2 loss. His other RBI came on a hit-by-pitch when Brazil's André Rienzo plunked him with the bases loaded in a 4-3 semifinal win.
