Biographical Information[edit]

Darick Hall had the rare privilege of batting clean-up in his major league debut for the Philadelphia Phillies against the Atlanta Braves on June 29, 2022. The veteran major league slugger went 0-for-4 in a 4-1 loss. A sign that he may not be the best defensive player around, he was inserted in the line-up as the designated hitter in the game, while two other lumbering sluggers, Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos, were playing the outfield corners. He had been called up to the Phils to take the place of the injured Bryce Harper. The Phillies appeared to be prescient the next day, June 30th, when he hit his first two career homers in the same game, a 14-4 beating of the Braves. He hit a solo homer off Jesús Cruz in the 4th and a two-run shot off position player Mike Ford in the 8th. He then hit another homer the next day, against the St. Louis Cardinals, meaning that his first three big league hits were homers. This was still far from the record of 5 held by Rodolfo Castro, but he was only the second player in Phillies history to do this, following Ed Sanicki in 1949.

Both his grandfather, Bo Hall, and his uncle, Shane Hall, played in the minor leagues.
