Biographical Information

Rodolfo Castro made his debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates in April of 2021, and proceeded to have all of his first five hits be homers. These all came in July, in his second call-up to Pittsburgh: he hit one on July 9th, and had a pair of two-homer games on July 11th and July 28th. At that point he was 5 for 21, batting .238 and slugging .952. This was of course a record, and not only was he unable to keep up that pace, but he did not hit another long ball all season, finishing at .198 in 31 games, with 17 hits and a slugging percentage of .395.
