Biographical Information

On March 16, 1969, Henry Williams got to participate in a special moment in Bahamian baseball history. It was the second game of a two-game exhibition series in Nassau between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox. The Dodgers were ahead 3-1, and called upon Williams to pitch the ninth inning. "When he got the final out, Nassau natives swept onto the field and carried Henry off on their shoulders, in true World Series fashion."

The Houston Astros signed Williams in 1965, but they released him after he appeared in just four games for Cocoa that season. He then spent two seasons in the Pittsburgh Pirates chain, posting a won lost record of 13-17, but with very good ERAs of 2.57 and 1.72. He mainly pitched in relief but made occasional starts.

The Dodgers then drafted Williams, and he played Double-A ball for them at Albuquerque in 1968, posting a 10-6, 3.33 record in 35 games (14 starts). There was talk that he would go to Triple A for 1969, but he wound up back at Albuquerque, with disappointing results (1-5, 4.67). He was back in Class A for 1970, and despite pitching well (9-6, 3.07), that was his last pro season. His career marks were 33-34, 3.05 in 167 games.
