Biographical Information[edit]
D'Shawn Knowles has played in the minors and for the British national team. He is the twin brother of D'Vaughn Knowles. [1]
D'Shawn signed with the Los Angeles Angels. He made his pro debut in 2018, hitting .301/.385/.381 for the AZL Angels and .321/.398/.551 for the Orem Owlz, scoring 46 runs in 58 games overall. He fell to .241/.310/.387 for Orem in 2019. He tied Jack Yalowitz for the most double plays turned by a Pioneer League outfielder with 3. [2] The 2020 season was canceled by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In '21, he hit .227/.280/.355 for the Inland Empire 66ers, though he did steal 31 bases in 32 tries. He tied Jeremy Arocho for the most steals in the Angels chain and tied for fourth in the Low-A West in swipes. He split 2022 between Inland Empire (.329/.433/.445 in 38 G) and the Tri-City Dust Devils (.234/.387/.287 in 84 G), scoring 69 runs and stealing 22 bases in 28 attempts. He tied Livan Soto for 6th in the Angels chain in runs and was 9th with 56 walks (between Kean Wong and Arol Vera).
Knowles then made Britain's squad for the 2023 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers; the team, like prior British teams in the WBC Qualifiers, relied significantly on players from the Bahamas like Knowles. [3]
