Biographical Information[edit]
A good friend of Antoan Richardson while growing up, Greg Burrows played 14 games for St. George of the independent Golden Baseball League in 2007. He hit .305/.354/.458 with 14 RBI. He joined Rockford of the Frontier League, another independent circuit, in 2008, and got into 34 more games, falling to .236/.322/.443 with 13 steals in 15 tries. 12 of his 25 hits went for extra bases. Overall, the outfielder hit .261/.333/.448 with 5 homers and 30 RBIs. He stole 18 bases in 20 attempts.
Bahamian journalist Fred Sturrup, a longtime observer of the local baseball scene, gives Greg's father, Greg Burrows Sr., credit for sparking the resurgence of Bahamian baseball as president of the Freedom Farm League. Greg Jr. has become a coach too, helping to support the game at the grassroots level and working with Bahamian teams in international youth competition.
