Biographical Information[edit]
Eddie Ford, the younger brother of Wenty Ford and older brother of Leighton Ford and Kevin Ford, played for the Houston Astros organization in 1967 and 1968, where his friends (including Scipio Spinks) called him "T-Bird". The outfielder was at Class A both seasons; although he put up a respectable .280 average, he did not hit any home runs.
Like many former Bahamian pros, Eddie continued to enjoy baseball at home after his pro career ended. He also was one of the best local cricket players, in addition to basketball and softball. Local journalist Fred Sturrup noted that many observers of the Bahamian sports scene call Ford one of the country’s most versatile athletes ever. Sturrup himself viewed cricket as Eddie's top sport.
