Biographical information

Tom Alfredson was a minor league outfielder who played from 1983 to 1990 in the California Angels, Chicago White Sox and Seattle Mariners farm systems.

Drafted by the Angels in the seventh round of the 1983 amateur draft, Alfredson began his professional career that same year. He played in 52 games for the Salem Angels, batting only .178. He split the 1984 season between the Salem Angels (57 games) and Peoria Chiefs (28 games), hitting .225 in 85 total games.

In 1985, with the Quad Cities Angels, Alfredson struggled at the plate, batting only .213 in 120 games - although he did show a little power, hitting 10 home runs. He increased his home run output to a career high 19 in 1986, when he hit .228 in 112 games for Quad Cities.

Despite playing in only 52 games, 1987 was arguably one of Alfredson's better years, as he batted .299 with nine home runs and 45 RBI for the Palm Springs Angels. He again showed power in 1988, belting 15 home runs, to complement a .254 batting average, in 126 games for the Midland Angels.

Alfredson played in only 19 games in 1989, batting .221 for the Midland Angels. He began 1990 in the White Sox organization, playing in 51 games for the Birmingham Barons and batting .255. He then wound up with the Williamsport Bills, playing in 35 games with them and batting .245. He hit .246 in 86 games that year.

Overall, Alfredson batted .234 with 65 home runs and 309 RBI in 652 games over an eight-year career.
