Biographical Information[edit]

In 1954, pioneering Bahamian baseball pro Andre Rodgers joined the New York Giants organization. Two years later, the Giants signed his younger brother, Adrian Rodgers. He started as a pitcher, posting a 3-2 record with a 3.60 ERA in 12 appearances for Hastings in the Nebraska State League (Class D). However, Adrian did not play in 1957 – "he developed arm trouble and returned to the Bahamas to rest and polish up his play as a first baseman. Locally he had a 9-1 record and batted .400."

Rodgers returned in 1958 for Wellsville in the New York-Penn League, but now he was an infielder. He hit .246 in 23 games for the Milwaukee Braves affiliate. He again did not play professionally in 1959, though. With Penny Bankers, he was the local MVP in the Bahamas.

Adrian came back once more in 1960, hitting .224 overall in 21 games for Keokuk (Class D) and Billings (Class C) in the St. Louis Cardinals chain. Along with his infield duties, he pitched three more games in 1960. He finished with a pro record of 3-3, 3.95 on the mound, to go with a .205 batting average in 62 games.

Rodgers played on in the Bahamas, winning local MVP honors again in 1963 with I-Need-A-Laundry. He coached for the Bahamas in the 1979 Pan American Games.
