Biographical Information[edit]

Kyle Simmons has played in the minors.

Simmons was signed by Pittsburgh Pirates scout Rene Gayo in 2015. He was 4 for 19 with a double, triple and walk for the DSL Pirates. Back with the same team in 2016, he hit .160/.402/.170 with 30 walks and 42 strikeouts in 133 plate appearances, meaning he had either one or the other in over half of his times up. He fielded .952 as their most-used second baseman.

He was the starting third baseman for the British national team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers as they went to a 3/4-Bahamaian infield with 2B Albert Cartwright and SS Jasrado Chisholm. While only 19 years old, he was not their youngest starter as DH Chavez Young was a younger 19 and Chisholm only 18. Simmons did well, going 3 for 9 with a double, 3 walks and two RBI. He tied Champ Stuart for the team lead in OBP and was 3rd in OPS behind Stuart and Cartwright, outperforming former major leaguer Antoan Richardson and AAA player Chris Berset among others. Simmons had what would be the winning hit in the semifinals against Brazil when he singled off Felipe Sales to score Cartwright in the 7th to make it 4-2 in a 4-3 win.
