Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Jervis Stuart hit .282 for Bluefield, the rookie-ball team of the Baltimore Orioles, in 1984. He hit 2 homers, drove in 12 men, and stole 15 bases. That was good enough for him to get a shot at Class A ball in 1985. He was slotted in as the leadoff man for the Daytona Beach Islanders; manager Jim Hutto expected him to steal between 40 and 50 bases over a full season. Stuart hit just .143 in 18 games for Daytona Beach, though, and his pro career ended.

His son is Champ Stuart (Jervis Jr.), who entered the minor leagues in 2013.
